Стоит локальный DNS. Сеть в пару сотен компов пользуется этим DNS серваком и жалоб нет.

iptables - не успел поставить :)
Заменил DNS, проверил, работает.
Вот только wget всё равно туже ошибку выдаёт :(

И ещё, если тестовые запуски делаются под иксами - там будут свои настройки прокси и окружение для иксов и для emerge может не совпадать.
