При попытке стартануть Иксы - чёрный экран, мыша-клава не реагирует...
В чём может быть причина такого фатального подвисона? Куда копать??? Перепробывал уже всё(ну или почти всё)... ПАМАГИТЕ!!! ПЛИЗ!!!

Не знаю что за скрипт но предположительно из названия создание устройства Nvidia NVmakedevices (NVIDIA make devices) Лично у меня иксы запустились только после того как я запустил этот скрипт
Моя видео карта такая-же как у тебя

С дровами 7676 этот скрипт уже не идет. На аглицком форуме предлагают вначале поставить страрые дрова, скопировать скрипт, и переустановить новые. Либо создавать устройства руками.
У меня проблема еще загадочнее. Модуль драйвера скомпилился. Грузится без проблем, но иксы не стартуют, говорят что не могут найти драйвер nvidia, который уже загружен. Пробовал создавать ноды в /dev, создаются. Но результат по прежнему отрицательный. Так и сижу под nv.

Может быть потому что у меня профиль 64-битный? Я неделю назад систему ставил и под NV у меня такие глюки ужасные были.

Могу выслать этот скрипт куда-нибудь а там разберётесь как он работает, может и без изменений прокатит.

Всё по прежнему: startx и глубокий down моего компа!!!
Пробывал перекомпиливать ядро и с потдержкой АГП и без неё - всё равно!
Нашёл я этот скрипт из 6629, запускал - создавались /dev/nvidia0(1,2,3,4)
и /dev/nvidiactl...
НО ГЛЮК ВСЁ РАВНО ЕСТЬ!!! МЛИН!!!!
Просматривая лог после каждой неудачной попытки, последние 2 строки в нём:
(**) NVIDIA(0): Default mode "320x175": 15.8 MHz, 37.9 kHz, 85.3 Hz (D)
(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be 1280 x 1024
Что опять не так? А?

Ничего принципиально нового тама нет. Наоборот, кое-что устарело, например, вместо opengl-update nvidia сейчас используется eselect opengl set nvidia. Но это не принципиально. Я так и не понял, почему у меня не создаются устройства в /dev автоматом. В udev.rules вроде все на месте.
Можно их создавать скриптом при каждой загрузке, но мою проблему это не решает. Xorg отказывается видеть уже загруженный модуль nvidia!

И тем не менее...

Так всё таки - ЧТО МНЕ НЕОБХОДИМО сделать/посмотреть/перекомпилять/перенастроить
для корректной, хотя в моём случае - вообще, работы?

У меня на работе MX400. Сталкнулся с той же проблемой, xorg не видел nvidia. Попробовал все сделать заново точно по той "устаревшей" доке - xorg прозрел. Так и не понял в чем было дело.

Странно что у тебя возникла такая проблема с AGP-ой видюхой...
У меня то PCI-E... Такого рода девайсы мне ранее вообще в руки не
попадали...
А ГФ400 у меня был раньше - НИКАДА И НИКАКИХ ПРАБЛЕМ с ним НЕБЫЛО!!!
Может во всём виноват Xorg? :-)

Чел, честно слово - Ищи скрипт для создания файлов девайса. Это и есть NVmake....блаблабла.
Я точно знаю, что с дровами каких-то версий этот скрипт идет.
запусти инсталяторы всех дров на nvidia, что у тебя есть с опцией --extract-only и обшарь все полученные папки - гденить да есть сей файл. без него тебе никакие конфиги не могут, если не были созданы файлы устройств nvidia0....9 и nvidiactl!!!!!!!!
