xf86-video-ati + mesa-7.8 = вылеты в kdm

Всем привет!
После очередного обновления у меня стали произходить странные вещи.
Что обновлял:
xorg-server-1.7.6
xf86-video-ati-6.13.0
mesa-7.8
После обновления при вводе логина/пароля в kdm начинается загрузка и вместо рабочего стола произходит вылет снова в kdm и так по кругу.
Если после этого попробовать выйти в консоль, то иксы зависают. Если сразу после загрузки kdm не пытаться зайти, а сразу выйти в консоль, то проблем нету.
Проблема решилась только когда откатил mesa до версии 7.5.2.

Обновил ядро до версии

Обновил ядро до версии 2.6.33-r1 а так же mesa до версии 7.8.1, так же пересобрал xf86-video-ati и libdrm-2.4.20 на всякий случай.
Иксы загружаются и все работает, правда иногда выступают артефакты. Если одно окно частично покрывает другое, то при закрытии активного его часть остается на неактивном. Если обновить окно, то артефакты пропадают. Чем это вызванно и от чего зависит, мне так и не удалось понять. Настраивал так же как написано в руководстве ссылкой выше. Все firmware установил.

Победил наконец-то radeon KMS

Победил наконец-то radeon KMS + DRM, ускорение есть, даже работает более-менее прилично.
Сильно помогла статья: http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonBuildHowTo
Дабы больше никому не наступать на грабли сообщаю - модуль radeon должен быть загружен ДО иксов, а то не будет работать KMS и соответственно 3D ускорение.

Вопрос знающим людям.
При загрузке модуля radeon тут же вырубается монитор, пока не загрузятся иксы, потом монитор снова включается и я уже вижу kdm.
Как сделать так, чтобы этого не произходило. А то вдруг мне на терминал какое нибудь важное сообщение какой нибудь демон выдаст, а тут такой облом. :-\
Как победить?

DRM не вкомпилил в ядро по одной простой причине - это тестовая функция. Упадет drm или radeon, следом упадет ядро.
Поэтому хотелось бы более красивого решения...
